County Community Structure Protection and Evacuation Plans

Catron County residents, business and property owners – the Catron County Community Structure Protection and Evacuation Plans are being created in 2012. With these plans you can learn about structure protection for your property and become familiar with emergency evacuation plans for your community. These plans are intended to be used with the Catron County Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPP) for dealing with catastrophic wildfires, as well as for other emergency situations. The plans are being drafted by Lif Strand, who can be contacted at catroncwpp@gmail.com. Your thoughts and input are welcome. When completed, copies of all plans can be obtained at a number of places. For a CD: Contact Linda Cooke at the Catron County Commission office at (575) 533-6423 or email ccommiss3@gilanet.com; contact Catron County Fire Chief Zina McGuire at catronfire@gilanet.com; contact your local district USFS Ranger office in Catron County. You will be able to download CWPPs for the Catron County or specific WUIs that you are interested in at http://www.emnrd.state.nm.us/fd/firemgt/cwpps.htm and the structure protection and evacuation plans on this page as the information becomes available.
